Nina Černič and Sofia Clementoni winners of women inline skating marathon and halfmarathon

24. August 2025

The women's 42 km race unfolded according to the plan of the Italian competitors. Desiana Caniatti (Skating Club Scaligero) set the pace for Monica Cais (Skating Comina Pordenone, Italy), while Monica Sick (LISC-2010, Austria) and Nina Černič (#ninajekul) waited for their opportunity.

However, Nina Černič broke the tactical stalemate by attacking with about a lap and a half left. She immediately gained a significant lead. In the background, other competitors tried to catch up, but Nina maintained a solid lead all the way to the finish line. The sprint for second place was a close battle between Monica Cais and Monica Sick, with the Austrian ultimately taking the win.

In the 21 km race, shortly after the start, Italian Sofia Clementoni and Dutch rider Noraly Berber Vonk from the professional SPSPSK Rollerblade World Team attacked and distanced themselves from the chasing pack. There was little cooperation among the chasers, but Serbian rider Mitra Brankovič showed the most strength and persistence, followed by Austrian Valentina Wutte.

Complete Italian podium for mens 42km and 21km races

24. August 2025

In the men's competition, despite participants from 8 countries, Italians completely dominated. In the 42 km race, the top three spots were taken by Italian skaters. However, the race wasn't decided quickly, as the main pack stayed together for a long time. A few laps before the end, only last year's winner, Mattia Selan (Skating Comina Pordenone), and Andrea Gobbatto (ASD Pattinatori Spinea) covered Giacomo Gobbatto's (ASD Pattinatori Spinea) attack. The Gobbatto brothers then executed the final laps brilliantly, with Andrea setting the pace, allowing Giacomo to win the final sprint.
In the 21 km race, the professional team SPSPSK Rollerblade World Team showed complete dominance. Shortly after the start, Italian skaters Davide Menegaldo and Lorenzo Bosco attacked and managed to lap all other competitors by the end of the race. The main pack, after their breakaway, skated more tactically until the finish, battling for 3rd place. In the sprint for the main pack, last year's 42km winner Mattia Selan triumphed, preventing the Austrians from securing a medal in the men's competition, as they finished 4th and 5th in both the half-marathon and marathon.
